Description
Magnesium
Magnesium is a widely distributed mineral in nature, being the second most abundant in the body, which makes it fundamental for human nutrition. It is present in unrefined grains, nuts, and green vegetables.
A co-factor involved in more than 300 enzymatic reactions, magnesium is necessary for all major biological processes, including cellular energy production, nucleic acid and protein synthesis, but also for muscle contraction, nervous excitability, and regulation of vascular tone.
Magnesium is essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system and for the transmission of nerve impulses. Magnesium deficiency has serious consequences related to neurological changes, such as asthenia, paresthesia, neuromuscular irritability, and ataxia.
Magnesium is frequently used in situations of asthenia, in the prevention and attenuation of weakness and muscle fatigue, as well as in improving physical performance. Magnesium supplementation is indicated for individuals under intellectual strain and subject to stress, also helping to combat depression. In a recent study conducted on individuals who exhibited various symptoms of depression, such as anxiety, irritability, asthenia, and decreased intellectual performance, it was found that the administration of magnesium supplements promoted the attenuation or even suppression of these symptoms, with one individual even showing an improvement in short-term memory and IQ. The authors of this study suggest that one of the causes of depression may be related to low daily magnesium intake in modern societies and that daily stress contributes to increased elimination of magnesium by the body (Eby and Eby, 2006).
In the citrate form, it becomes more readily available for absorption.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a fundamental role in collagen formation, which is important for the growth and regeneration of cells, gums, blood vessels, bones, and teeth. It facilitates iron absorption by the body but is rapidly depleted in stressful situations.
There are countless benefits of this vitamin in the human body, among others: it helps reduce blood cholesterol levels; it prevents a large number of viral and bacterial infections, strengthening the immune system; it protects the body against the action of free radicals, acting as an antioxidant; it prevents colds; it prolongs life by allowing the cohesion of cellular proteins; it increases the absorption of inorganic iron; it neutralizes the effect of certain allergy-causing substances.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is a vitamin with a great ability to balance hormonal changes in women. It is very important for the immune system, allowing the body to defend itself against infections, and is thought to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. It is recommended for hyperactive children or those with learning difficulties. It is necessary to maintain healthy skin and can help prevent diseases such as dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis. It should be recommended for people taking contraceptives or undergoing hormone replacement therapy, women suffering from premenstrual symptoms, during pregnancy and lactation, situations of depression or anxiety, excessive alcohol consumption, processed food intake, or excess protein.
Vitamin C contributes to maintaining the normal functioning of the Immune System during and after physical exercise.
Vitamin C contributes to maintaining normal collagen formation for the normal functioning of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin, and teeth.
Vitamin C contributes to maintaining normal energy-producing metabolism.
Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-producing metabolism.
Vitamin B6 supports the normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function.
