Description
Proper functioning of the hepatic system
Therapeutic Indications:
The liver is a fundamental organ in maintaining the health of our body. In addition to playing a crucial role in nutrient metabolism, blood formation, and strengthening the immune system, it acts together with the gallbladder as a filter, preventing harmful substances from entering the bloodstream. Thus, for the preservation of a healthy body and for the prevention and treatment of some diseases, it is essential to maintain good liver and gallbladder function.
Artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) is a plant whose fleshy part is used as food. But it is in the leaves, roots, and stem that the active principles and bitter substances are concentrated, which give it choleretic, diuretic, and hepatoprotective properties and make it suitable for treating liver dysfunctions. Its action is due to its content of mineral salts, mainly manganese, vitamin A, B1, B2, C, enzymes, and its phenyl-carboxylic-cynarine acid. Cynarine is the active principle responsible for its hepatobiliary action. It has choleretic and cholagogue activity, stimulating the production and secretion of bile acids. These acids are essential for digestion and proper digestive function. A slight hypoglycemic, purifying, and diuretic activity is also observed due to the artichoke. Artichoke also contributes to weight loss.
Borututu (Cochlospermum angolensis) is a plant of African origin. It contains quinones, catechins, polyols, and bioflavonoids in its composition. This plant has been widely used for problems related to the liver, gallbladder, and a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. Its application has shown beneficial effects in the treatment of hepatitis, biliary colic, and jaundice. It is considered a general detoxifier and blood purifier. The purifying action of borututu makes it an important aid in weight loss regimes, reducing volume, and decreasing the sensation of a bloated belly.
Boldo (Peumus boldus) is an evergreen tree that grows on average up to 8 meters tall. It is native to Chile but is also found in regions of Peru and Morocco. It is widely used to relieve gastrointestinal problems, constipation, and to alleviate the effects of hangovers. One of its main active compounds is boldine, a substance responsible for its hepatoprotective, choleretic, and cholagogue properties.
Choline is a component of the B complex and has a lipolytic effect on the body, meaning it helps to metabolize fats, transforming them into energy and preventing their storage. It has a protective function for the liver, removing accumulated fats and preventing their deposition, protecting this organ against fatty liver disease.
