Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble vitamin that is necessary for normal growth and development. This means that the body does not store it, and excessive amounts of the vitamin leave the body through urine. Unlike most mammals, humans do not have the ability to produce vitamin C.
Vitamin C is necessary for the growth and repair of tissues in all parts of your body. It is needed to form collagen, an important protein used to make skin, scar tissue, tendons, ligaments, and blood vessels.
Vitamin C is essential for wound healing, and for the repair and maintenance of cartilage, bones, teeth, and gums.
Vitamin C also plays an important role in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter, adrenaline. Neurotransmitters are fundamental for brain function; furthermore, vitamin C is necessary for the synthesis of carnitine, a small molecule that is essential for transporting fat to cellular organelles called mitochondria, for conversion into energy.
Recent research on vitamin C also suggests that it is involved in the metabolism of cholesterol into bile acids, which may have implications for blood cholesterol levels and the incidence of gallstones. Vitamin C plays an important role in iron absorption – a mineral necessary for the formation of red blood cells, as well as playing a role in the body's utilization of folic acid.

Dosage and Administration:
Children over 12 years of age, 1 tablet per day as a food supplement.
Adults take up to 3 tablets per day, if necessary, or as advised by a duly qualified person.
